React Video Editor Documentation
A founder’s guide to React Video Editor (RVE), its packaged tools, and how to get started.
React Video Editor (RVE) started as a tiny Next.js template I built to scratch my own itch. Making video editors is complicated, and I wanted a way to skip the hardest parts. So I put something together to help developers do the same.
That template is now RVE Pro. A full, production-ready starter kit with complete source code. You can take it apart, customize everything, and shape it to your product’s exact needs.
For teams that don’t want to maintain the source code, we also built RVE Packaged. A private npm package that you can drop into any React project (Next.js, Vite, whatever you use) and just get going. Updates, fixes, and improvements come through the package, so you can stay focused on shipping.
And because we think the future of editing is smarter, we’re working on AI Agents. Drop-in tools for transitions, highlight detection, summaries, cuts, and more. Layer clean AI workflows into your editor without reinventing the wheel.
This documentation walks through all of it. Pro, Packaged, and what’s coming next, to help you go from “I need a video editor” to “It’s live in production” as quickly as possible.
